A Message from the Board Chair

Share on:

Hello Members,

As the new Chair of the CPB Canada Board of Directors, I am pleased to provide an update on the Board and member activities from our amazing Annual IGNITE Conference last week in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The CPB Canada Board of Directors met twice, and the association hosted its Annual General Meeting for members.

Here's a summary of these meetings:

September 10th, 2024 - Final Meeting of the 2023-24 Board of Directors:

The CPB Canada Board of Directors met to discuss the following:

  • Proposals for the 2027 IGNITE Destination/Venue.
  • An update on the new Association Management System project underway throughout this fiscal year.
  • A summary report of Board of Directors organizational identity work from July with an eye toward the final stages of strategic plan development in Q3.
  • A detailed CEO briefing on core initiatives and his Q1 Objectives and Key Results reporting.

Friday, September 13th, 2024 - Annual General Meeting:

The Annual General Meeting of the members was held on Friday and included all IGNITE participants in-person and attending virtually. At this meeting, the following business items were discussed and approved:

  • Members received the 2023-24 Annual Report and the 2023-24 Audited Financial Statements prepared by the firm of Parker Prins Lebano, CPA.
  • Additionally, the members approved the reappointment of Parker Prins Lebano, CPA, as the Auditor for this fiscal year.
  • The members approved a suite of Articles and By-Law amendments through one special resolution. These changes will ensure the following:
    • ALL dues-paying members will now have full voting rights in the association.
    • The association has reduced its member classes to one in the By-Laws, with each category of membership to be defined in policy.
    • Absentee voting provisions are now included in the By-Laws, and the registered mailing address for CPB Canada will be moved from British Columbia to Ontario.

Additionally, the association held an election of Directors with three vacancies. The results of the member vote are below, and we thank all the candidates for putting their names forward.
