Teaming up with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), CPB Canada aims to elevate the perception and understanding of bookkeeping professionals in Canada. This study employs secondary research, stakeholder interviews, a broad survey of over 450 Canadian bookkeeping professionals, and an economic footprint analysis using Statistics Canada data. The focus is on exploring the benefits and impacts of bookkeeping on small businesses and the broader economy. Bookkeeping is highlighted as crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, aiding budget planning, and facilitating audits. The duties of bookkeeping professionals extend to various financial tasks, including tax returns, administrative responsibilities, and specialized consulting projects, particularly with the integration of accounting software automation. The survey reveals that these professionals cater to diverse industries, showcasing their widespread influence across real estate, non-profits, consulting, automotive, hospitality, healthcare, and cosmetics sectors.
