Recognizing Excellence and Professionalism

The CPB Canada Bookkeeping Excellence Awards honour important contributions of CPB members or their firms who uphold CPB Canada's standards, enhance Canada's bookkeeping industry, and make outstanding contributions to their community, clients, and the association.

Who Can Nominate?

Any CPB Canada member, an employer, an employee, or customer/client of a nominee.

 

Self-nominations are permitted.

NOTE: Entities/companies that supply services/technology to the accounting/bookkeeping community, and their representatives are not permitted to submit nominations.

Nominations Process

  1. Submit a nomination in line with the eligibility requirements before the deadline.
    Please Note: Incomplete nomination forms will not be considered.

  2. An Award Review Panel will review the nominations, and a selection will be made based on the highest compatibility with the eligibility requirements.
    • One (1) recipient may be selected for each award category.
  3. Award recipients will be announced at the IGNITE Conference Awards Gala & Social Night on September 11, 2025. 

*Sitting Directors of the CPB Canada Board cannot be nominated for an award.

2025 Awards Nominations will be open from May 26, 2025, to June 23, 2025.

Awards Categories

  •  Volunteer of the Year Award

    The Volunteer of the Year Award honours an exceptional member of CPB Canada who has shown remarkable dedication and commitment to volunteer service within the association and in the broader community. This award celebrates individuals who generously offer their time, skills, and passion to support the mission and goals of CPB Canada, significantly impacting our organization and the field of bookkeeping in Canada.

    Award Criteria:

    • Demonstrated that they uphold the standards and ideals of CPB Canada.
    • Demonstrated evidence of positively impacting the association, its members, or the community it serves. 
    • Evidence of consistent dedication, time commitment, and genuine investment in their volunteer role. This includes exceeding typical volunteer expectations and demonstrating a proactive approach to their responsibilities. 
    • Demonstrated embodiment of qualities of an effective volunteer, such as enthusiasm, teamwork, communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and adapt. 
    • Demonstrated commitment to promoting the values and goals of CPB Canada through their volunteer work. This could include inspiring others to volunteer, representing the association positively, and contributing to the overall growth and success of CPB Canada.

    • Any CPB Canada member, an employer, an employee, or a customer/client of a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB). 
    • Self-nominations are permitted with supporting documentation.

  •   Mentor of the Year Award

    The Mentor of the Year Award recognizes and celebrates an exceptional member of CPB Canada who has shown remarkable dedication to mentoring and developing other professionals in the accounting field. This award honours individuals who generously share their expertise, knowledge, and experience to empower and guide emerging leaders and colleagues. Their contributions significantly enhance others' professional growth.

    Award Criteria:

    • Demonstrated that they uphold the standards and ideals of CPB Canada. 
    • Demonstrated impact on peers or colleagues within the professional community in a manner that is positive and uplifting in developing professional growth, skill development, career advancement and overall success. 
    • A strong commitment to the development of others. This includes going above and beyond typical mentoring expectations by demonstrating a proactive approach to fostering growth in others. 
    • Demonstrating the values and ideals of the profession and those held by CPB Canada through mentorship. This can include pursuing and mentoring others to pursue the CPB certification and life-long learning and development.

    Nominations:

    • Any CPB Canada member, an employer, an employee, or customer/client of a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB).
    • Self-nominations are permitted with supporting documentation.

  •   Organizational Excellence Award

    The Organizational Excellence Award celebrates firms owned by or employing Certified Professional Bookkeepers (CPBs) that exemplify outstanding achievements in growth, innovation, and leadership, all while exemplifying the esteemed standards and values of CPB Canada. This award highlights an organizational commitment to excellence that positively impacts their staff, clients, and the industry.

    Award Criteria:

    • Demonstrated that they uphold the standards and ideals of CPB Canada. 
    • Demonstrated success and recognition through increased revenues, satisfied clientele, staff development, effective use of technology, general leadership, innovation etc. 
    • A strong commitment to ensuring bookkeeping staff is committed to the Certified Professional Bookkeeper designation and its associated standards. 
    • The organization is supportive of CPB Canada and its standards for raising our professional community's profile and recognition. 
    • Has been an outstanding contributor to the professional community through active leadership, education and mentorship.

    Nominations:

    • Any CPB Canada member, an employer, an employee, or a customer/client of a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB).
    • Self-nominations are permitted with supporting documentation.

  •   Fellow Award

    The Fellow Award recognizes individuals for their outstanding service and contributions to the Certified Professional Bookkeepers of Canada. This prestigious accolade is granted to deserving Certified Members who have demonstrated sustained leadership, competence, and commitment to CPB Canada throughout their careers. Their valuable achievements and contributions are honoured by granting them the Fellow (FCPB) recognition in addition to their CPB certification.

    Award Criteria:

    • Demonstrated that they uphold the standards and ideals of CPB Canada. 
    • A demonstrated service to CPB Canada and doing so with respect, integrity, and a selfless attitude. 
    • Contributions to the association and the community by raising our professional profile, standing and recognition. 
    • Has been an outstanding contributor to the professional community through active leadership, education and mentorship. 
    • A Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) certification in good standing without a history of any ethics complaints holding merit.

    Nominations:

    • The organization will undergo a process to determine potential individuals who warrant the prestigious CPB Canada Fellow Award each year.

  •  Professional Leader of the Year Award

    The Professional Leader of the Year Award celebrates an outstanding Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) in Canada who exemplifies the highest standards and values of CPB Canada. This prestigious recognition honours those who have demonstrated exceptional success and made a meaningful impact in the profession and for their clients within the past year.

    Award Criteria:

    • Demonstrated that they uphold the standards and ideals of CPB Canada. 
    • Demonstrated success and contributed to their employer and customers while engaged and active with CPB Canada. 
    • Demonstrated commitment to promoting excellence within the bookkeeping industry and with CPB Canada. 
    • Achieved accomplishments through innovative or novel approaches.
    • A Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) certification in good standing without any ethics complaints holding merit.

    Nominations:

    • Any CPB Canada member, an employer, an employee, or a customer/client of a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB).  
    • Self-nominations are permitted with supporting documentation

  •   Industry Excellence Award

    This prestigious award honours an industry leader whose remarkable achievements have impacted Canada's accounting industry. Their unwavering commitment to excellence and significant contributions to the community, the bookkeeping industry, and the profession exemplify the qualities we aspire to celebrate as Canada's leading professional community for bookkeepers.

    Award Criteria:

    • They accomplished significant achievements throughout their bookkeeping career and have had a lasting impact on the industry.
    • Demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of excellence within the bookkeeping industry.
    • Holds leading certifications and credentials that inspire the elevation of standards within the industry.
    • An innovative leader who is involved in promoting best practices and thought leadership and has contributed to growth and development.

    Nominations:

    • Any CPB Canada member, an employer, an employee, or a customer/client of a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB).  
    • Self-nominations are permitted with supporting documentation

  •   Emerging Leader of the Year Award

    The Emerging Leader of the Year Award celebrates an outstanding bookkeeper with three years of experience or less who has shown remarkable professional and educational growth. This accolade honours individuals who embody the values and standards of CPB Canada, showcasing their early career commitment to excellence and growth in bookkeeping.

    Award Criteria:

    • Demonstrated that they uphold the standards and ideals of CPB Canada. 
    • Demonstrated professional commitment and growth in the past year while actively pursuing the CPB designation or navigating the certification pathway. 
    • A demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to promoting excellence within the bookkeeping industry and with CPB Canada.  
    • A non-certified member bookkeeper with their membership in good standing, with no ethics complaints of merit.

    Nominations:

    • Any CPB Canada member, an employer, an employee, or a customer/client of a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB).
