Dear CPB Canada Members,

As a valued member, your voice plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the bookkeeping profession. One powerful way to make your voice heard is by actively supporting CPB Canada when we engage with government and its officials.

Here's why our voice matters:

  • Representing Member Interests: We can discuss how policies and regulations directly impact bookkeepers and ensure unique needs and challenges of our profession are considered.
  • Elevating the Bookkeeping Profession: We can showcase the professionalism and expertise of bookkeepers and raise public awareness and recognition of the role we play to support small business and the Canadian economy.
  • Shaping Policy for the Future: We can influence the development of policies that support the growth and success of our industry.

Over the coming months,

CPB Canada is once again establishing meetings with government officials across Canada. We will present them the findings of the recent study undertaken by PwC Consulting on The Socio-Economic Impacts of Bookkeeping Professionals in Canada along with advocate on behalf of members in the following areas:

  1. Recognition of the Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation as Canada's leading competency-based credential for bookkeepers.
  2. Utilizing CPB Canada as an effective partner and vehicle to administer federal/provincial educational programs for the sector.
  3. Inclusion within small business roundtables to enhance and advise on financial transparency and compliance across sectors.
  4. Advocating for the recognition of bookkeeping as integral to Canada’s accounting industry and an essential part of economic resilience planning.

How You Can Get Involved:

  • Stay Informed: CPB Canada will share information on upcoming government meetings relevant to the bookkeeping profession.
  • Contact Your Local Representatives: Reach out to your local Members of Parliament (MPPs) or Members of Parliament (MPs) to express your concerns and priorities.

CPB Canada has prepared a templated letter to elected officials that shares the PwC research report. Simply sign and send it to your elected representatives. Access the Letter Template.

  • Attend Meetings or Events: Where possible, attend events or meetings and talk CPB Canada because even a small presence can demonstrate and educate others on the collective voice of our community.

By actively participating, you provide our professional association with grassroots advocacy. Together, we can ensure that our voices are heard, and that the future of bookkeeping is bright.

Past Public Affairs Updates:

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the profession.

Sincerely,

CPB Canada Team
