CPB Certification a Requirement for Ontario's Self Directed Care (Family Managed Home Care) Program Specifications
CPB Canada continues to raise the profile of the CPB Certification. This is done through our association engagement with government and is reinforced by our members - who carry the CPB certification with professionalism and competence daily.
Last month, CPB Canada was pleased to learn that the Ontario Ministry of Health will recognize the CPB certification within its new program specifications for financial and bookkeeping support for the Self Directed Care (Family-Managed Home Care) program.
Simply put, the Ministry will now require associated bookkeepers or accountants to hold a CPB certification (or be a CPA or PCP holder). This requirement for non-certified bookkeepers must be met by December 31st, 2022.
The Self Directed Care program supports around a thousand families across Ontario. The Ministry is aware of our support around requiring the CPB as the government seeks to achieve a more robust accountability framework for public funds. Additionally, it allows families to be better served so they can focus on what matters most.
CPB Canada is committed to supporting non-certified members and non-members in garnering their certification over the coming months.
In addition, our association will work to ensure that other Ministry's in Ontario look to establish and build on this accountability framework for public funds across the Province.
Increasingly, the CPB Certification and standard is being recognized by orders of government. This was evident with Small Business BC support grants; now, we see it through the Ministry of Health in Ontario.
We look forward to continuing this advocacy for our association and its members. With past successes with Small Business BC and now in Ontario, we will commit to growing further awareness of the CPB certification and standards.
