Info
There is an overwhelming amount of information out there on the use of offshore accounting talent and companies: pros and cons; success and horror stories; different models and types of engagements. In this presentation, I’ll attempt to simplify offshore accounting and then identify the smaller details that are often overlooked in our industry.
We’ll begin by summarizing the opportunities and challenges of working with offshore talent. I’ll then walk you through the differences between freelancers and remote business process outsourcing (BPO) companies. Lastly, through some of the examples of deployments that I’ve overseen, we’ll take a closer look at understanding what works and why.
Presenter: Muzaffar Butt, Co-founder and CEO Obox Solution Ltd.
At Obox, I’ve overseen more than 200 deployments of offshore accountants: primarily with accounting businesses in Canada; many with CPB’s.
I grew up in Pakistan in the 90s and early 2000s and then moved to Canada to complete my undergraduate degree in finance at the University of Western Ontario. Upon completing the degree in 2010, I returned to Pakistan to work in my family business but always harboured the dream of building something of my own. In 2013, I came across the opportunity to setup an offshore office for an accounting business from the UK. I built the office for them and then together we worked to support other accountants in Europe. After relative success, I delegated the reigns of the offshore office and moved back to Canada to build the Canadian chapter in 2015, Obox Solution Ltd.
