Presenter: Kam Laraway, CPA, CGA

Kam holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA). 

Kam brings over 25 years of knowledge and experience, including an extensive background in government (yes, that means the CRA), industry (Senior Financial Analyst), and public practice. From 2005 to 2019, Kam built a successful public accounting practice providing small businesses with income tax and financial consulting, working with a diverse client base.

Since selling her tax practice in 2019, Kam has found her true passion in helping business owners to better understand their financial data in a way that makes sense to them.

 

Presenter: Michelle Duford, CPB

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan, majoring in Computer Science.

Michelle began her career in Information Technology (IT) as a software developer, moving up to manager before leaving IT in 2003.  She changed direction to accounting and earned a designation as a CGA in 2007 and ran a bookkeeping and tax practice from 2007 to 2019.  An early adopter of cloud, she began working with cloud technologies in 2012 and fully moved to the cloud in 2016, setting up a virtual and remote practice.  In 2019, she left tax and went back to her first passion – technology.  Her current focus is converting legacy accounting software to the cloud.  In 2023, Michelle retired as a CPA and became a CPB. 

Currently, she is playing with AI technologies and Robotic Process Automations (RPA).

 

Meeting Format:

  • Informal networking and meal service from Moxies - 5:30 pm-6:45 pm (each attendee responsible for their meal tab)
  • CPB Canada announcements, and attendee introductions 6:45 pm
  • Presentation – 7 pm – 8 pm
  • Informal networking and meeting adjournment 8 pm-8:30 pm

 

Location: Sandman Hotel & Suites Calgary SOUTH (in Deerfoot Meadows) – usual meeting rooms are down hallway to the left of main entry.
