Join us for a presentation on Meeting Accountant Expectations for Year Ends.

This presentation will discuss an accountant's expectations for a bookkeeper preparing a year-end file for compilation, review, audit, and T2 purposes.

Speaker: Filomena Collia, CPA, CA, CFDS

I began my accounting career in high school. I worked at my aunt’s bookkeeping service during the summer. I loved it! I took as many business courses in high school as were available, and then I was fortunate to be accepted to the University of Waterloo’s Chartered Accountancy Studies program. I graduated in 1993 with an Honours BA and passed the Uniform Final Examinations in 1995. I did all my co-op terms and articling hours with KPMG. Later I moved to a small boutique tax firm in Mississauga, where I completed part one and two of the tax in-depth program. Then life happened; I got married and had a baby. I needed balance in my life and decided to make the switch to being self-employed. I took a contract controllership position with a carpentry company, and the rest is history.

I now offer mainly CFO services and of course, fill in the gaps with bookkeeping, financial statement presentation, tax, consulting, and everything in between. I recently obtained my Certified Financial Divorce Specialist and am looking at broadening my services in the area of family law. I take great pride and joy in helping people with their financial matters on any level. Bringing professional expertise, guidance, and calm to what can be a very overwhelming and anxious process for many people.
