Presenter: Lauren Cowley
Lauren is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with a Master of Counselling degree, specializing in trauma-informed practices, somatic movement, and emotion-focused therapy. Her professional background includes teaching yoga since 2016, with over 500 hours of specialized training, including trauma-sensitive yoga and mindfulness practices. She's worked with diverse communities, from eating disorder support to research studies exploring yoga’s role in cancer care for children and young adults.
As a former professional figure skater, Lauren brings a lifelong connection to movement as a means of healing and self-expression. Her approach integrates body, mind, and spirit to foster growth and resilience. From a place of gentleness and curiosity, she aims to help people navigate the thoughts, feelings, and sensations that seem too big to carry alone. She believes that healing is multi-faceted and tailors her sessions to each individual, including the opportunity (if it fits) to utilize creativity, art, movement, and mindfulness.
When not working, you’ll find her climbing mountains, hiking with my two golden retrievers, jamming on her guitar or piano, or sneaking in an impromptu dance party. Lauren believes in meeting people where they’re at, creating space for growth, and finding joy in the little moments along the way.
