When we think of fraud risk, we tend to think of who might potentially steal from us. But what about the risk bookkeepers pose to their clients? As bookkeepers, we are given an immense amount of access and trust. Combined with their potentially higher financial illiteracy, the risk that businesses can be defrauded by their own bookkeeper increases significantly. In this session, we will explore what measures you can take within your own practice to help minimize that risk.

Amanda Whitney has been a bookkeeper for over fifteen years, beginning as an actor doing it for work to support herself and eventually developing a full career. As of 2021, she became a Certified Fraud Examiner and hopes to help organizations assess their own risks and avoid many of the pitfalls that can lead to fraud.
