Honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30th, CPB Canada joins the nation in observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is a solemn opportunity to reflect on the profound and lasting impacts of residential schools, to honour the children who never returned home, and to support the survivors, their families, and their communities.
As we take the time to acknowledge this tragic chapter in Canadian history, we reaffirm our commitment to truth, reconciliation, and healing. At CPB Canada, we believe that education and understanding are essential steps toward meaningful change. To this end, we actively encourage our professional community to seek out Indigenous voices, perspectives, and resources.
To help participate and learn more:
- Explore resources like the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.
- Attend local events, workshops, read books, or watch documentaries by Indigenous authors and filmmakers.
- Explore a variety of digital resources such as those hosted by the Woodland Cultural Centre or the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
As a national professional association with a presence in every part of this country, we observe this national holiday as part of our ongoing commitment to promoting local and national actions aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.
Sincerely,
The CPB Canada Team
