CPB Canada Observes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Take action with us

Share on:

Dear CPB Canada Members,

On September 30th, we will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day allows us to reflect on the profound and lasting impacts of the history of residential schools, including the children who never returned home, the survivors, and their families and communities. It is a public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and the ongoing impacts of residential schools, which is an essential part of the reconciliation process.

CPB Canada offices will be closed on September 30th in observance of this important day.

As recently noted in the Land Acknowledgement at the IGNITE Conference in Winnipeg, in alignment with our broad national reach, CPB Canada wants to encourage our members from coast to coast to seek out Indigenous voices and perspectives by attending workshops, reading books, or watching documentaries by Indigenous authors and filmmakers.

To help, there are local resources from Indigenous communities that can educate us about the history of residential schools, the ongoing impacts on Indigenous communities, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.

RESOURCES

Several accessible resources and learning materials are listed below, with some providing free access ahead of September 30th, 2024:

As we observe this day, let's not forego the opportunity to renew our commitment to truth, reconciliation, and a brighter future.

Sincerely,
The CPB Canada Team
