Vice Chair Update - Board of Director's Meeting

Share on:

Hello friends and colleagues,

I am Melissa Lenos, the Vice-Chair of CPB Canada and your incoming Chair this September. I'm here to provide you with an update from our latest Board of Directors Meeting in place of my colleague and the current Board Chair, Lynne Moore.

Last Thursday, the Board met for our third meeting of this term. We had some meaningful discussions covering a range of items. Here is a brief breakdown of the agenda:

  1. Our standing financial and membership reports indicate a strong outlook as we close out this fiscal year.
  2. The CEO provided a detailed update on upcoming plans for a new membership management suite and website, aiming to enhance the member experience.
  3. We discussed new education and professional development offerings that will be available throughout the rest of 2024 and into the new year.
  4. The CEO discussed current and future government relations activity on behalf of CPB Canada members.

The most significant item was the approval of the 2024-25 fiscal year budget. The Board was pleased to see many strategic initiatives being funded to advance our strategic focus moving forward. This includes the opportunity for the Board of Directors to help develop the next strategic plan that will guide our efforts for the years to come.

Additionally, the Board received formal reports on the following:

  1. The CPB Canada nomination, AGM, and election timeline.
  2. Completing the recommended by-law amendments from the 2022 governance review.
  3. Reviewing our Request for Proposal content for site selection of IGNITE Conference for 2026-2028.

As always, it was a full agenda with lots of great updates and action items to advance the mission and priorities of our professional association.

In closing, I want to say thank you to our members who make this community such a profound and meaningful place. I look forward to connecting with you all and hope to catch you at our IGNITE Conference this year in Winnipeg.

Sincerely,

Melissa Lenos, CPB, PCP
