CPB Canada Responds to Ontario's Retail and Personal Services Roundtable
CPB Canada was recently invited by Associate Minister of Small Business Nina Tangri to participate in Ontario's Retail and Personal Services Roundtable. The purpose of this invitation was to gather input and advice from small business groups and leaders toward a future Small Business Strategy for Ontario.
Unfortunately, CPB Canada could not send a representative to the event due to scheduling conflicts. However, the Minister's office allowed us to prepare a written submission and follow up with their Director of Policy.
In our submission, CPB Canada highlighted recent research indicating our significance to small businesses across Canada. In addition, we presented several priority requests that strongly represent our members' collective interests, positioning the association as a partner and an advisor to the government. These positions included included:
- Greater recognition of the Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation as Canada's leading competency-based credential for bookkeepers.
- Utilizing CPB Canada as an effective partner and vehicle to administer the sector's federal/provincial educational programs.
- Further inclusion within small business roundtables to enhance and advise on financial transparency and compliance across sectors.
- Advocating for the recognition of bookkeeping as integral to Canada's accounting industry and an essential part of economic resilience planning.
CPB Canada looks forward to continuing these discussions in Ontario. Additionally, we will hold similar talks with government representatives across Canadian jurisdictions over the coming months.
