Chair Update - Board of Director's Meeting

Hello members, 

I am excited to update you on the recent Board of Directors meeting as we kicked off the 2023-24 term at an in-person meeting in Toronto last Friday.

In the morning, the Board of Directors worked with consultant Dr. JP Gedeon, who challenged the Board to build on its recent successes by focusing on collaborative decision-making and exploring critical aspects of identity development for the association. This excellent session will lead to more work ahead of our next Strategic Plan.

At the Board meeting, much ground was covered, including making our Officer and Committee Appointments for this year ahead. They include:

In addition, the Board conducted the following business:

  • The CEO reported on recent activity, including financial reporting on the IGNITE Conference and status updates surrounding the unique research project with PwC and the upcoming National Bookkeeping Week.
  • The Board received, reviewed, and discussed the organization's latest risk assessment and profile.
  • Staff provided its quarterly update to the Board on the status of approved strategic initiatives and progress on the Strategic Plan.
  • A research report about how CPB Canada will develop its Request for Proposal for a new Association Management System was shared.
  • An education-focused report shared recent consultant work on future planning for educational/curriculum development options for CPB Canada for member and industry programming.
  • Finally, the Board received its annual ethics report outlining the volume of activity from the last year – including investigations and sanctions while addressing several policy changes.
    • A new annual ethics reporting communication will go out to members before the end of the year.


This meeting was a great start to our new term – one we expect to be busy and full of excitement and progress. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank you for your continued commitment, passion and support for our community.
