Congratulations to Kristina Thomas, Recipient of the 2023 Alan Salmon Bursary

Share on:

We are pleased to share the most recent recipient of the Alan Salmon Bursary Program through CPB Canada in partnership with Conestoga College as the current administrator of the program.

We formally congratulate Kristina Thomas on being awarded the Alan Salmon Bursary this term. As a successful recipient, Kristina will receive $1,250 to further her academic and professional pursuits. Kristina shared the following words;

“My goals within my academic program were to maintain an 80+ average, which I accomplished in my first semester.  After graduation, I plan to acquire an entry-level position within the bookkeeping/accounting profession.  I am considering specializing in payroll as it appears to offer many opportunities for advancement and is in high demand.

I studied Business at Conestoga approximately ten years ago and feel that the Bookkeeping program will complement my skills nicely and give me a well-rounded background to start my own small bookkeeping business eventually.  I yearn for a self-directed career because I thrive in that environment.  I intend to achieve my goals by maintaining my high level of academic excellence, graduating from the Bookkeeping program, and honing my skills until I am comfortable enough to branch out on my own and take the reigns to be in full control of my own business and bright future!

I volunteer at The Seed in Guelph, a grocery organization committed to helping low-income folks afford healthy food.  They have a tiered approach to how much the food costs.  During the pandemic, I volunteered in the kitchen, where they prepared healthy premade meals, and in the warehouse and delivered groceries.

I am grateful for this bursary.”

We feel that there is no better way to honour the legacy of Alan Salmon than by investing in the future of our profession and community; in doing so, we remember his contributions to our organization and the industry.
