CEO Update - July 4, 2022

Similar to many of you, I am happy to welcome the longer days of summer. For me, it is long overdue as these summer days allow for the chance to put more time back into ourselves and our loved ones.

At CPB Canada, it remains a busy time of the year. Several major projects are on the go, and we continue to ramp up towards a September return to the 2022 IGNITE Conference in Calgary. We are very excited about the interest to date. Equally, we are excited to offer a Virtual Lite Registration option for those who cannot make it in person. In response to our post-conference survey over the past two years - we heard you!

That said, the work involved in administering two unique conference experiences is a lot! I want to thank my team, our dedicated Conference Committee members and our vendors (CanPlan) for their continued commitment and effort.

Beyond the conference, we are wrapping up a comprehensive governance review that will go to the Board of Directors later this month. Coming out of this, we are confident that improvements will be adopted to create a governance framework that meets our current and future demands as a progressive national professional association.

Finally, we are excited to have welcomed many members from CIB over the past two months. We hope you are settling in and taking advantage of the many benefits and learning opportunities available. Additionally, CPB Canada has welcomed dialogue with the nation's largest colleges and their accounting and bookkeeping programs around joining our Education Partner Program. This wave of interest will build a more robust pipeline from academic programs while providing students with a clear professional pathway toward becoming Certified Professional Bookkeepers (CPBs).

Finally, I would like to congratulate Matthew Wren on being awarded the first-ever Alan Salmon Bursary out of Conestoga College. I know for many of our members, this tradition will invest in the future while honouring the memory and service of Alan Salmon.

I hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing summer with family and friends. See you in September!
