Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) extended to include August

On Friday July 31, 2020 government announced that the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) program will be extended by one month to include August. This program is administered by the CMHC, details can be found on their website.

Canadians accessing CERB to be transitioned to EI in coming weeks

Government also announced on Friday July 31, 2020 that in the coming weeks, Canadians on the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) will be transitioned to Employment Insurance. They intend to “create a transitional parallel benefit that is similar to Employment Insurance” that will include access to training and allow for more hours to be worked. In addition, there will be a sickness and caregivers benefit for those not covered at work if they get CoVID-19, or they must look after an immediate family member who has contracted it. More details will be available in the coming weeks.
