CEO Update – CPB Canada Welcomes members of the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB)

Share on:

Happy April to everyone,

As we enter Spring, I am pleased to deliver exciting news for Canada's accounting and bookkeeping industry.

On Tuesday, April 5th, 2022, the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB) membership voted in favour of selling its assets to CPB Canada and dissolving its organization. This sale has been finalized and will begin the process to transition their membership into CPB Canada and grow our collective community of bookkeeping professionals.

Welcoming CIB members to CPB Canada will further strengthen Canada's bookkeeping community. Over a period of 4-5 months, CPB Canada's team has worked to create a pathway that will recognize the time and efforts put in by CIB members and provide them with the opportunity to maintain their certified standards.  We are pleased to have developed a respectful and unifying path forward for CIB members.

This move demonstrates industry leadership on the part of CPB Canada while consolidating our strength and standing as Canada's national certifying body for professional bookkeepers.

Over the weeks ahead, staff at CPB Canada will engage in the process to welcome and orient our new colleagues and members. There is much to do, and we are eager to get started.

For now, I want to thank all the parties involved at CIB and the CPB Canada Board of Directors and staff. They have spent many hours and late nights working to bring our community together.

In closing, I am always optimistic about the future. I believe this step is critical for creating a unified path forward. I hope our members join me in welcoming CIB members into the CPB Canada family.

Cheers,
Rick Johal, CAE, MPA
