The Canada Revenue Agency launches scam alert webpage

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has launched a new scam alert web page, listing the latest scams affecting Canadians.

To help Canadians recognize and report scams, this new web page will include the information about the scam such as:

  •  Who it is targeting
  • How to recognize the scam
  • What do to if you are contacted by a scammer.

Stay up-to-date on the latest scams

New scams will be added to the scam alert page regularly, and will be promoted on the CRA’s social media channels. Be sure to follow us, including on our new Instagram page.

How to protect yourself against fraud and scams

We are committed to protecting the personal information of Canadians, and this is another way we support Canadians in preventing them from being scammed. You can always find information on what to do if you’re a victim of fraud or identity theft by visiting our page, Protect yourself against fraud.

What do if you suspect you are a victim of a scam or fraud

Canadians who suspect their CRA account has been compromised can call the CRA to talk to an agent at 1-800-959-8281 (between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. local time, Monday to Friday and between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time on Saturday) or, if you are outside of Canada and the U.S., at 1-613-940-8495 (between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, EST). Follow the prompt for “if you have been a victim of fraud or identity theft”.
