Job Description
Responsibilities: • Process, maintain, monitor, and reconcile general ledger accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, trust accounts, commissions, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. • Prepare commission payments, payroll, and source deductions. • Identify and investigate discrepancies, discussing resolutions with management. • Post monthly, quarterly, and year-end adjusting entries as needed. • Prepare government remittances, HST returns, T4/T4As, and TICO reports and submissions. • Generate information for year-end financial statements. • Provide support to external accountants as required. • Monitor bookings and customer travel orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines. • Develop strong relationships with Independent Contractors (Agents). • Assist agents with financial and booking-related inquiries. • Monitor, distribute, and respond to email messages. Qualifications and Skills: • *Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is a must!* • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a bookkeeping role within a small to medium-sized business. • Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation and an accounting degree or diploma preferred. • Proficient in QuickBooks, Wagepoint, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook. • Expertise in managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and account reconciliation. • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports to assist with management decision-making. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with professionalism. • Clear and concise communication skills, verbally and in writing, in English. • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate bookkeeping and regulatory compliance. • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. • Customer-focused approach, efficiently resolving sales and service issues for agents and clients. • High initiative and capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills. • Familiarity with travel booking systems and knowledge of industry regulations, such as TICO standards, is an asset. Experience: • Minimum of 5 years in a bookkeeping role. • Experience in travel sales or customer service within the travel sector is preferred.
