Skills requirements

Education: A degree/Diploma in accounting, financial or related field is preferred.

Working experience: Bookkeeping experience 2 years at least (required), legal bookkeeping experience 1 year at least (required) Strong knowledge of financial records keeping including Trust Listing; Trust Journal; General Journal and by-Law-9 forms and so on. Specialized in legal accounting software: PC Law, Clio, Soluno,   LEAP (at least two required) Experience with Ceridan, QuickBooks Online, Quickbook, and Payment Evolution payroll program (preferred) Ability to perform Legal software training and communicate with clients. A commitment to high-quality work. Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities: Correspond with the bank and manage various banking issues such as changes in account signatories, administering foreign exchange transactions, transfers, etc. Daily operating: daily cash/cheque receipts and bank deposits, keeping track of and posting disbursements as incurred, tracking and paying monthly expenses, reviewing suppliers’ invoices for accuracy along with Office Manager, preparing cheques for signature as well as processing online payments including wire transfer, EFT, e-transfer, direct deposit Handling trust and general accounts: entry of trust and general transactions, posting journal entries and adjustments that follow LSO requirements. Set up and maintain a chart of accounts, prepare bills, and bill payments. Reconcile Trust, General, Credit Cards, AR and AP accounts, maintain general ledgers, prepare trial balance of books, and prepare financial statements and reconciliation reports. Payroll processing: payroll entry, insurance/benefits calculation; reconcile payroll and source deduction. Generate, review, and approve tax slips (i.e. T4s, T4a’s) and ROEs. Reconcile and file Payroll, GST/HST, EHT, and WSIB returns; Prepare working papers for LSO audit/review and Annual LSO Reports. File quarterly levies and process lawyer’s annual insurance and membership fees by Law Pro. Prepare year-end working papers and file personal and corp tax returns.
