Our Client is in search of a Bookkeeper with strong Payroll skills and a PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation to bring their expertise to the team. Responsibilities: Management of Payroll Operations: Supervise and handle payroll processes for a diverse client base, ensuring precision and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Ensure accurate and prompt processing of data for client payroll cycles, aligning with company and government policies. Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial documentation for clientele, encompassing accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements. PCP Expertise: Utilize your PCP designation to stay updated on payroll regulations and best practices, ensuring client compliance. Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for client payroll and bookkeeping inquiries, ensuring prompt and professional responses. Record Keeping: Maintain well-organized and secure records of both payroll and financial transactions for our clients. Reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate payroll reports to clients regularly. Problem Solving: Identify and resolve payroll and bookkeeping issues efficiently. Team Collaboration: Work with other team members to ensure seamless service delivery to clients. Payroll Data Input: - Ensure all data files are complete for transmission to recognized payroll systems. - Investigate and resolve payroll issues with authorized Client representatives. - Create and run reports from payroll or time and attendance systems. - Ensure timely processing of journal entries into the accounting system. - Process new hires, terminations, transfers, and promotions as per Client request. - Prepare and submit payroll deductions and remittances on a timely basis, maintaining up-to-date records. Payroll Reporting: - Prepare bi-weekly payroll reports for Clients, including ad hoc reports. - Assist in the reconciliation of the Payroll Clearing account. - Ensure all payroll process documentation, including work step instructions, is up to date. - Client Communication: Receive inbound telephone calls and emails from Clients, ensuring timely responses from the appropriate staff member. Qualifications: - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required - Canadian Payroll Association Certification (CPA) preferred - Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) preferred - Accounting, Business Administration or Finance Diploma preferred - Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll administration and bookkeeping. - Proficiency in payroll software and bookkeeping tools (e.g., QuickBooks, QBO). - Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements. - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work. - Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
