Job Description

Key Responsibilities and Expectations Bookkeeping to Financial Statement including: • Accounts Receivable – enter tuition and interorganization invoices and receive payments; provide a receivables report to the treasurer for payment processing; prepare year-end tuition receipts; • Accounts Payable – enter previously-approved VISA charges, supplier invoices and expense reports; print cheques for signature or set up EFT payments for approval; • Payroll – summarize timesheets, phone hourly and salaried payroll to Ceridian for processing, communicate changes in benefits to relevant organizations; • Banks, credit cards and petty cash – record deposits and other non-cheque/EFT charges, reconcile accounts monthly • Fund Accounting – record changes in funds balances and related investments • Maintain general ledger, cash and financial statements in a not-for-profit environment • Provide Contributions Summary and Financial Statements to the Treasurer for distribution to the Board; • Maintain and prepare year end documentation for submission to the auditors, including reconciliation of tuition fees collected, contributions received, funds & investment activity, and payroll to the general ledger • Maintain and prepare Excel spreadsheets as related to the above tasks Key Qualifications: • Proven bookkeeping experience including full knowledge and command of full cycle bookkeeping - performing full-cycle accounting functions. • Proficiency with QuickBooks desktop required, including use of the job and class functions • Strong computer and typing skills; advanced/expert level in Microsoft Excel • Bookkeeping, Accounting or Business Administration Certificate or Diploma; designation an asset • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable principles and internal controls • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and maintain financial records • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is an asset, but training in not-for-profit reporting can be provided if needed • Outstanding reliability, attendance and punctuality • Highly adaptable; can work efficiently autonomously or with a team • Strong communication skills in English required Contract Commitment: • Part-time 1-2 days per week • Salary: $25-$35 per hour; commensurate with and negotiable based on qualifications • Work location: on site in Etobicoke Because this job is onsite at a school, a Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check will be required.
