Karen Finucane joins CPB Canada after spending almost 10 years in government-funded employment services at Mohawk College Community Employment Services in Hamilton, Ontario. In this role, Karen assisted community members working in all occupations seeking job search and career advancement advice or guidance. During this time, she became familiar with coaching clients on the value of conducting occupational and labour market research when pursuing their employment goals. Understanding and addressing the needs and concerns of community members accessing employment services in a client-focused, compassionate and empathetic manner has always been a strong priority for Karen in her day-to-day work activities. This will assist Karen in understanding and addressing the needs and concerns of CPB Canada members.
Karen holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Brock University focusing on Human Resources, completed in 2004. More recently, in 2022, Karen completed the Career Development Professional Post-Graduate Certificate program at Conestoga College. This training helps to provide great insight into the importance of ongoing professional development for CPB Canada members during their career journey.
Karen was born and raised in Southwestern Ontario and currently lives in Brantford, Ontario, with her husband and one amazing son. Their golden doodle, Charlie, is also an important part of the family. Nurturing important relationships by staying connected with extended family and a supportive circle of friends is a passion for Karen. She is often the person planning and hosting gatherings to celebrate special occasions. She loves to access her creative side when time permits with DIY projects like scrapbooking and creating memorable fun birthday parties with special themes and decorations.
