May 5, 2025

2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EDT

Info

Running a bookkeeping business involves more than balancing numbers—it also means managing client expectations, setting limits, and protecting your own energy. If you’ve ever felt stretched too thin, struggled to say no, or found yourself carrying clients’ stress as your own, this session is for you.

In this live, interactive webinar, we’ll explore how to set boundaries that support your business and your well-being. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to protect your time, communicate confidently, and build a business that reflects your values, not just your workload.

What We’ll Cover:

  • What boundaries are, including the different types of boundaries (time, emotional, financial, physical, intellectual, and more)

  • People-pleasing: what it is, why we do it, and how to shift the habit

  • The difference between requests and boundaries

  • Tools and scripts for communicating with clarity and confidence

  • How to navigate guilt, anxiety, and fear when setting limits

  • What to do when boundaries are ignored, tested, or pushed

  • A framework for navigating “The Valley”—the often uncomfortable space between old patterns and healthier habits

  • Emotional boundaries: how to care without carrying your clients’ stress

  • How to recognize burnout, strengthen self-trust, and build a business that’s both sustainable and aligned

You’ll Also Receive:

  • A downloadable workbook with reflection prompts, boundary-setting scripts, and self-care planning tools

  • Exercises to help you apply what you’ve learned right away

  • Space for Q&A and real-life examples

Who This Is For:

This session is ideal for bookkeepers at any stage of business who want to create more structure, clarity, and balance in their work. Whether you're new to boundary-setting or need help reinforcing what you've already started, this will be a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to learn and grow.

Speaker: Lauren Cowley

Lauren Cowley from the Being Human Club is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with a Master of Counselling degree, specializing in trauma-informed practices, somatic movement, and emotion-focused therapy.

With a background that bridges clinical training and embodied healing, Lauren integrates a variety of approaches—including EMDR, Hakomi, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. Her work is grounded in a deep understanding of how trauma, emotions, and the nervous system interact—and how healing can happen when we approach these parts of ourselves with gentleness and curiosity.

She brings over nine years of experience as a yoga teacher, with more than 1000 hours of training across a range of therapeutic modalities. Her work has supported individuals navigating relational and childhood trauma, complex PTSD, betrayal trauma, chronic illness, grief, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and the quiet aches of burnout. She’s also been involved in research exploring the role of yoga in pediatric and young adult cancer care.

As a former professional figure skater, Lauren has always had a strong connection to movement as a form of healing and self-expression. She integrates body, mind, and spirit in her work, meeting each client where they’re at and tailoring sessions to support their individual needs—whether through traditional talk therapy, somatic practices, art, music, or mindfulness.

At the heart of her approach is a belief that healing is multifaceted—and that we’re not meant to carry the heavy stuff alone. She sees healing as a process that begins not with fixing, but with softening: pausing to ask, “What’s here now?” In her sessions, Lauren offers a space grounded in presence and care, where people can show up fully as they are—with their grief, tenderness, questions, resilience, and all the beautiful messiness of being human. Her work honors both the ache and the aliveness, making room for what’s difficult while gently inviting what’s possible.

When she’s not working, you’ll likely find Lauren rock climbing in the mountains, hiking with her two rascal golden retrievers, jamming on her guitar or piano, or sneaking in impromptu dance parties.
