Yes! Although new CB designations will not be awarded, we encourage existing CBs to use both their CB and CPB
The Certified Processional Bookkeeper designation is requested more and more by employers and clients. Being aligned with CPB Canada provides clients with peace of mind knowing their bookkeeper adheres to CPB Canada’s Ethics & Professional conduct. Annual continuing education requirements also ensure that CPBs are up to date on what’s happening in the sector
Digital Credentials (Digital Badges) are backed by metadata detailing the requirements met for the level. This data is verified electronically and provides members, and the public, with proof that you have the knowledge, expectations and experience that meet our national standard.
CPBs are required to submit 20 CPD units annually. Participating in CPB Canada’s activities through Webinars, Regional Meetings, and our conference makes it easy for members to meet their maintenance requirements. Many external events are also accepted!
As a Junior or Associate member, you will have full access to CPB Canada's member benefits. We encourage you to review the Apprentice, Technician and CPB level requirements to see the best starting point. All members who achieve a recognized level on our Pathway will receive a Digital Credential. Networking, recognition and continuing education will all support your career path.
Membership is $336 per year plus applicable taxes. Your membership will provide you with access to plenty of benefits that will support your bookkeeping profession.
Generally speaking, you will pay for your membership and related services by credit card on our website. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express card payments. You may pay for your membership fees by a mailed cheque as an exception. Please note, however, that your membership will not be considered active until the cheque is received, resulting in processing delays of 10-15 business days.
As with CIB, a requirement of maintaining your certification was to remain a member in good standing. If you choose not to join CPB Canada, you will no longer be permitted to use the CB designation.
Although CPB Canada does not have a formal education requirement, meeting our knowledge expectations and passing the entry test (Apprentice, Technician levels) or the CPB is required to achieve your level. We encourage you to review our Knowledge Expectations checklist as those additional courses may cover the additional knowledge you need.
No, your membership is renewed on your anniversary date.
No. Association Memberships fees are not eligible for a tax receipt
Membership includes access to all of CPB Canada’s on-demand and live webinars. The only items not included with your membership fee are workshops and registration for our Annual Conference, which are optional. As a member, you will access member rates on those items.
Our Pathway is designed around years of work experience and knowledge expectations.
